How to utilize a free homemade ring to make various sized cook pots out of aluminum cans. From the good old Foster’s pot, to a standard size 12 ounce soda can… I share an idea for making your own customized nesting set of cook pots for ultralight to lightweight backpacking. This is an addendum video to a recent video I did on how to make and install a free DIY version of the aluminum ring that is being sold for the Foster’s beer can. If you are interested in making your own rings and cook set, I’ve included a link below… “Easy DIY Upgrade To The Foster’s Cook Pot” www.youtube.com

@mrgross17 Let me know what you think when you get them. I try to stear people in the right direction. You can watch Ray Mears on “RitchiePowell’s Channel”. Lot’s of great info. and easy to watch.

@JSR990 Have not gotten one yet. They sold out of the Miyota Mov. watch that I was going to get. They are great watches and it is just a matter of time.

  7. Just bought a set from Amazon based on your review and video.

@intenseangler I was wondering if you could tell me the most efficient way to get the tops off of other cans? Or perhaps you know a link to another video?

  16. intenseangler on February 19, 2012 @ 3:41 am

    @wilcoxtube Thanks my friend!
To answer your question: I haven’t picked up any rust yet, but I have no doubt that they would be very susceptible to it! I try to make sure that I dry them asap after each use. I haven’t found any aluminum ones yet, but I’m keeping my eye out for better options all the time. I did have the thought of using something to coat the rings with prior to installation that would help with corrosion/rust resistance… just not quite sure what yet. Hope that helps…

  17. Excellent! Question – do the pot rings rust? Have you been able to find aluminum ones?

  18. intenseangler on February 19, 2012 @ 4:32 am

@SuperfluousGrizzly You’re very welcome my friend. Yeah, I saw that video on adding the ridges… excellent idea!
    Take care…..

Thank you for this, I recently talked to the person who made another video recently which shows how to add ridges to the walls of the aluminum cans for more structural support with no added weight.
Search “How to add ridges to a fosters pot” in youtube.

    Good luck DIYers!

I really llike your pot ring DIY I did one for a Fosters can and it works great. Now I am going to follow your lead and make me a couple of the smaller sizes. Thanks for doing these videos.

@mangus7175 Right on Brother! Glad to help by the way… money saving tips are always handy!

@2kargarage1 Thanks Bro. I have another video where I show how to make the rings… it’s called “Easy DIY Upgrade To The Fosters Cook Pot”… there’s a link to it in the description area of this video.

@kidpasty72 Apologies for the slow reply my friend. I had the same problem trying to find a can that would work… what finally did the trick was a 12oz evaporated milk can from Hy-Top. I also switched it up after I posted this and made the pot out of a 24oz Monster can… fit perfectly! Hope that helps….

  25. Thanks for the tip on these cans. Recently made some and figured out how to add ridges to the pots to add some strength to them.

  26. Outstanding.
Can u make a vid of making the rings?

  27. Was wondering what can you used for the lip in the mid sized pot(the tea can)? I haven’t found one that works yet. Any suggestions would be great.

  28. intenseangler on February 19, 2012 @ 9:44 am

@saradreaming Indeed I do! So you better hurry on over for dinner my friend! ;-)
Thanks Sara, and I hope you have an awesome weekend yourself!

@Winkiedoodles LOL!! I get myself in enough trouble without the booze and energy drinks buddy! ;-0
We usually don’t ice up too much here in the valley, so there’s generally some type of fishing to be had somewhere around. The problem lately has been the weather… it can’t make up it’s mind from one day to the next! I’ve hit the Boise River a few times for some decent trout, but the bass aren’t cooperating at all (could be the fisherman though ;-) ).

  31. @intenseangler … only treat going on here, no trick ;o)

  32. intenseangler on February 19, 2012 @ 11:34 am

@ScoutsNOA Hey my Brother! It’s good hearing from ya man. Thanks for the compliments by the way… much appreciated! Hope you’re not working too hard buddy… and you’re getting the chance to get out and “play” every once in awhile.
    Peace Bro….

  33. Brother that is such a cool DIY, your a pro at it. Cool stuff always learn something from your channel.

  34. intenseangler on February 19, 2012 @ 12:32 pm
